Frequently Asked Questions
for Underexposed® Photography – Denver Event, Branding & Headshot Photographer
Booking Process FAQs
What do I need to do to book a session?
To book your Denver event photography, branding session, corporate headshots, or family portraits, start by requesting your session date and time on our booking calendar or reaching out through the contact form. From there, we may set up a quick consultation call to chat about what you’re looking for, your location (Denver, Castle Rock, Littleton, or surrounding areas), and the type of photography you need. After our consult, you’ll receive a custom photography proposal by email. Once you accept the proposal, you’ll be guided to your photography agreement and deposit invoice to officially book your photoshoot.
Are there any hidden costs?
Absolutely not. Unlike some photographers who advertise a low session fee and then charge per image or require you to buy expensive print packages, our event, branding, marketing, and portrait photography collections are designed as clear, flat-rate packages. Your proposal will outline all costs up front, including coverage, editing, and deliverables, so you know exactly what you are investing before you book. Through your online gallery, you’ll have the option to order prints, canvases, metal prints, cards, and other products if you’d like, but they are never required.
Do you require a deposit or retainer?
Yes. To officially secure your date and time, a nonrefundable retainer is due along with your signed photography agreement. This applies to Denver event photography, branding sessions, corporate headshots, weddings, and portraits and ensures your session is reserved on the calendar just for you.
How far in advance should I book?
For corporate events, conferences, and large Denver area events, booking 2–6 months in advance is recommended, especially for peak seasons. Branding sessions, headshots, and family portraits usually book 3–8 weeks out, though last-minute dates may be available. You can always reach out to see our availability.
Do you travel outside Denver and Castle Rock?
Absolutely. Underexposed® is based in Castle Rock and regularly photographs in Denver, Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Aurora, Lakewood, Arvada, Colorado Springs, and the greater Front Range. However, we have also traveled to Las Vegas, California, Iowa, Wyoming, Illinois, and event Helsinki, Finland for a variety of photoshoots and would love to discuss travel options. Travel for corporate events, branding photography, and weddings throughout Colorado and beyond can be arranged and will be detailed in your custom proposal if any additional travel fees apply.
Photos & Delivery FAQs
Are the photos in high-resolution (hi-res)?
Yes. All images included in your package are delivered as high-resolution JPEG files, which means you’re getting professional-quality files suitable for printing, cropping, and using across your website, marketing materials, and social media. If you need specific file sizes, TIFFs, PNGs, or web-optimized versions for your brand or corporate marketing team, just let us know and we can provide those as well.
What is your editing style?
Our signature editing style combines authentic, sharp imagery with vibrant, bold colors, making every image stand out in Denver’s dynamic event, branding, and corporate scenes. We never over-edit or heavily photoshop to make you look like someone else. Our goal is to create flattering, true-to-you images that feel professional, polished, and timeless. Additional retouching can always be requested as needed.
Do you use AI for editing?
All images are edited by real humans. While there are select AI-assisted tools built into professional software like Lightroom that help with efficiency (for example, masking or basic adjustments), we do not rely on AI-only editing to finalize your images. Every gallery is personally reviewed and edited so your event photography, branding session, or headshots meet a high professional standard.
How long does it take to get my photos after the session?
Typical turnaround time is about two weeks for most sessions, including branding photography, family portraits, and headshots, and this will be communicated with you during booking. Larger corporate events, multi-day conferences, or weddings may have a slightly longer delivery window, but expedited editing options are available if you have a deadline or need images quickly for marketing or social media.
Do you offer expedited editing or rush delivery?
Yes. If you need your images quickly (for example, next-day press highlights from a corporate event or a fast turnaround on branding photos for a launch) we offer expedited editing add-ons. Rush timelines and fees vary based on the size of your event or session and will be clearly outlined in your proposal.
Will I own my images?
Yes, within the intended use. All non-commercial sessions (such as family portraits, seniors, and personal events) include a print release, which allows you to print, share, and enjoy your photos for personal use. Branding, marketing, and commercial photography sessions include a marketing release/license for your business use across web, social media, presentations, and print collateral. If you need a specific or extended commercial license, or are interested in a full copyright buyout to full image rights, we can happily customize that for you.
Will you use my photos for your advertising or marketing?
Only with your permission. Your photography agreement will include a section that allows you to opt in or out of image use for Underexposed® marketing, portfolio, website, and social media. If you prefer to keep your images private, whether for personal or corporate reasons, just let us know, and we’ll always honor that.
Headshot & Branding Photography FAQs
Can you come to our office to shoot headshots for our staff?
Absolutely! Underexposed® offers on-location corporate headshots throughout Denver, Castle Rock, Littleton, and the surrounding metro area, bringing a traveling studio setup with professional lighting and backdrop options right to your office or event. Whether you need a simple headshot station at a company event or a dedicated headshot day at your workplace, we make it easy for your staff.
Can we get headshots for our entire staff?
Yes, we regularly photograph teams and full staffs for Denver businesses, nonprofits, and organizations of all sizes. Together we’ll determine how much time is needed, the best schedule for your team, and the look you want, and then we’ll create a custom proposal for your corporate headshots so it fits exactly what you need.
Do you offer personal branding photography for entrepreneurs and small businesses?
Absolutely! Branding photography is one of our specialties, and we work with entrepreneurs, small businesses, creatives, and corporate leaders across Denver and Castle Rock to create marketing images for websites, social media, and campaigns. Your branding session includes planning for locations, outfits, props, and content so you walk away with a cohesive, on-brand image library you can use everywhere you show up online.
What’s the difference between headshots and branding photography?
Headshots typically focus on clean, professional portraits, usually from the waist up, used for LinkedIn, company websites, and bios. Branding photography goes further and includes a mix of headshots, lifestyle images, behind-the-scenes moments, workspace photos, and detail shots that tell a full story of your brand, business, or creative work.
Can you match our company’s existing look or brand guidelines?
Definitely. For corporate event photography, headshots, and branding sessions, we’re happy to review your existing imagery, brand colors, and style guidelines to create a consistent look across all your visuals. This can include specific backdrop colors, lighting preferences, posing, or cropping formats that match your marketing and design standards.
Event & Corporate Photography FAQs
What kinds of events do you photograph?
Underexposed® specializes in event photography for corporate events, conferences, galas, fundraisers, concerts, award ceremonies, company parties, and community events throughout Denver, Castle Rock, and the Front Range. We also photograph personal events on a limited basis, including weddings, elopements, and special family celebrations.
Can you handle challenging low-light or stage lighting at events?
Yes. Low-light and dynamic lighting is one of our core specialties, and it’s a big reason many Denver businesses and event planners hire Underexposed®. We bring professional lighting gear and a mastery of exposure, motion, and color to ensure your event images look vibrant, sharp, and professional even in dim venues, dramatic stage lighting, or fast-moving environments.
Do you travel to different venues around Denver and Castle Rock?
Definitely. We photograph events and branding sessions at venues throughout the Denver metro area, including downtown Denver venues, the Tech Center, Cherry Creek, Castle Rock and Castle Pines venues like Cielo and The Oaks, and Littleton and Highlands Ranch locations, and more. If you have a specific venue in mind, we’ll happily chat through logistics, lighting considerations, and timing during your consultation.
How many photos will we receive from an event?
The exact number of images depends on the length of coverage, the size of your event, and what’s happening throughout the day, but you can expect a robust gallery that tells the full story of your event, including key moments, details, candids, and branding elements. All usable images are edited and delivered in high-resolution via an online gallery, with options for expedited highlight delivery if needed for marketing or PR.
Can you provide same-day or next-day highlights for social media or press?
Yes, for many community and corporate events we can add an expedited highlight gallery or a set of select images delivered within 24–48 hours so your team can share on social media, send to press, or include in emails. This can be added to your custom event photography proposal if it’s important for your marketing timeline.
Session Experience & Inclusivity FAQs
I’m not comfortable in front of the camera. Can you help with posing?
Absolutely. Most clients feel a little nervous at first, and it’s completely normal. During your branding session, headshots, or portraits, we’ll guide you through natural posing, expression, and movement so you feel relaxed, confident, and like yourself, no modeling experience required.
Are you an LGBTQ-affirming and inclusive photographer?
Yes. Underexposed® is proud to be an LGBTQ Ally and an inclusive Denver photographer — all identities, cultures, abilities, and genders are welcome and celebrated here. Whether you’re booking a corporate event, branding session, wedding, or family portraits, you can expect a safe, affirming, and respectful experience.
What does it mean that you’re a Foster Friendly Business?
As a Foster Friendly Business, we offer additional support and understanding for foster families, including flexibility and special considerations when scheduling sessions. If you are a foster family or working with youth in care, please mention this in your inquiry so we can best support you.
Logistics FAQs
What happens if the weather is bad for an outdoor session?
Colorado weather is unpredictable, and we build flexibility into your plan. For outdoor branding sessions, family portraits, and seniors, we’ll watch the forecast together and can adjust timing, choose a covered location, or reschedule if needed to keep you and your images looking your best. For events, we’ll adapt our lighting and coverage to whatever the day brings.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Most sessions and event photography invoices are paid online directly through the invoice using credit card or bank transfer through our secure system. Payment schedules and retainer details are included in your custom proposal and photography agreement so everything is clear from the start. We also accept cash, check, Zelle, and other forms upon request.
